Description: Little is known about warning signs of intimate partner violence (IPV). The present line of research seeks to better understand what warning signs are, and the extent to which they are predictive of physical, psychological, and sexual abuse in romantic relationships. These studies aim to (a) differentiate warning signs from abuse, (b) develop a timeline of when warning signs and abuse first appear in relationships, and (c) establish which warning signs (if any) are most predictive of IPV.
