This project forms part of a series of experiments as part of the main authors PhD thesis. This experiment will ask participants to choose a movie which makes them cry. They will watch this on two separate occasions and on one of the occasions they will be asked to suppress their tears.
The specific hypotheses we will address are: does suppression lead higher or lower peak physiological reactivity?; does suppression increase or decrease the time taken to return to baseline?
We will collect 20-30 female participants from a range of sources although it is expected to be mostly undergraduate students.
