Materials for: Sánchez-Tójar, A., Moran, N.P., O'Dea, R.E., Reinhold, K., Nakagawa, S. *In press*. Illustrating the importance of meta-analysing variances alongside means in ecology and evolution. *Journal of Evolutionary Biology* (preprint: https://doi.org/10.32942/osf.io/yhfvk) The GitHub repository containing all data and code for this study is available at Zenodo (doi: [10.5281/zenodo.3843018](https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.3843018)). Please, cite the Zenodo repository when using any of the materials of this project, along with the original publication. ---------- Content: - [analyses](https://osf.io/mgstr/): contains all R code and data to reproduce the results of this study. All code and data are linked via GitHub, and the doi for the GitHub repository is provided via Zenodo: [10.5281/zenodo.3843018](https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.3843018). - [models](https://osf.io/zy7k2/): contains all the models (".Rdata") run for this study, including some *extra* models. Thus, any potential reader interested in running the models does not need to actually run them, which is rather time consuming. Furthermore, providing these models ensures full computational reproducibility of the results. - [supplementary information](https://osf.io/zy7k2/): contains the supplementary information file for this study, which is also available online at: https://asanchez-tojar.github.io/meta-analysis_of_variance/SupplementaryMaterial ---------- *For further questions contact*: [Alfredo Sánchez-Tójar](https://scholar.google.co.uk/citations?hl=en&user=Sh-Rjq8AAAAJ&view_op=list_works&sortby=pubdate) (twitter: [@ASanchez_Tojar](https://twitter.com/ASanchez_Tojar); email: **alfredo.tojar@gmail.com**)
