Wiki Version:
This OSF page contains all materials to reproduce the statistical results reported in the paper "A Legend in One’s Own Mind: The Link Between Ambition and Leadership Ratings" and its accompanying Supplementary Online Materials (SOM). Under the Data folder, you can find the following data sources: 1. `360data.csv`, containing all source data in long format. This is the file that will be used to run all main analyses. 2. `composites.csv`, containing a single row for each leader (472 rows in total), with their composite effectiveness ratings (i.e., the average of their self ratings, third-party ratings, subordinate ratings, manager ratings, and peer ratings). This is the file on which the exploratory Response Surface Analyses (reported in the Supplement) will be run. 3. `wide_data.csv`, containing all source data in wide format. This is the file that is used to calculate reliability coefficients for the effectiveness scores. Under the Code folder, you can find four files: 1. `analysis.Rmd` is an RMarkdown document that can be used to reproduce all results reported in the main paper and the SOM 2. `analysis.html` is an HTML file that is automatically generated from the code in `analysis.Rmd`. 3. `RSA-helper.R` is an R file containing helper functions for the Response Surface Analyses. 4. `apaDescriptives.R` is an R file containing helper functions to create descriptive statistics tables in APA style. Rather than needing to rerun all analyses in `analysis.Rmd` (which are very time-consuming, especially the Bayesian analyses), the reader can simply download `analysis.html` to verify all the numbers reported in the manuscript. The two respective folders for each wave contain the study preregistration and the survey materials. This OSF project also contains the data, survey materials, and (if applicable) preregistrations for two pilot studies and two supplemental studies reported in the Supplemental Online Materials.
