Wiki Version:
This directory contains all the necessary data and code files for replicating the results and findings from our published research paper "Sociocultural valuation of human impacts on marine ecosystems: The case of the National Marine Park of Alonissos in Greece" in the Journal of Environmental Economics and Policy. Below are the details and descriptions of each file and its purpose: ## Files and Descriptions: ### 1. `data.csv` - **Description:** Contains the anonymized data used in our research. ### 2. `NLOGIT.lim` - **Description:** This file will replicate the Choice Experiment estimations as depicted in Table 3 of our paper. Additionally, it covers the (failed) robustness checks for correlation between random parameters discussed in our paper. - **Associated Data File:** `data.csv` - **Additional Information:** For ease of understanding, after each code chunk in this file, we've also included the output as produced by NLOGIT v6.0. ### 3. `Experimental_Design.xlsx` - **Description:** Contains details about the experimental design utilized in our research. - **Structure:** - Each row signifies a choice card (total of 12). - First 2 columns: Design ID (always 1) & Choice Card ID (ranging from 1-12). These are needed for the design evaluation by Ngene (refer to #4) - Columns 3-7: Attributes of the first alternative (in order: Fish catches, Recreation, Sequestration, Access Restrictions, Tax). - Columns 8-12: Attributes of the second alternative (same order as the first). - Last column: Block indicator (2 blocks in total). ### 4. `Ngene_design_evaluation.ngs` - **Description:** This syntax was used to evaluate the experimental design. It utilizes the MNL estimates of our model, particularly for considerations related to sample size. ### 5. `Impact_Calculations.xlsx` - **Description:** This file replicates the results presented in Table 4 of our paper. It merges the WTP values obtained from the Choice Experiment with the CIA (Cumulative Impact Assessment) weights to produce the results. ## Steps for Replication: 1. Review the `data.csv` for a general overview of the data. 2. Execute the `NLOGIT.lim` file to replicate the Choice Experiment estimations and the robustness checks. Make sure the associated `data.csv` is accessible. 3. Lastly, open `Impact_Calculations.xlsx` to validate the results shown in Table 4. 4. To evaluate the experimental design run the `Ngene_design_evaluation.ngs`. Make sure the associated `Experimental_Design.xlsx` is accessible. Ensure that the necessary software and versions are installed (e.g., NLOGIT v6.0) to achieve an exact replication of the results. We encourage feedback and queries regarding any of the above files.
