Wiki Version:
Statistical analysis represented here was first conducted between October 2018 and April 2019. We erroneously believed that we should share only what we used to make our final case study selection. In the intervening years we have heard from researchers that the novel datasets we created at the outset would be useful to them as well. In April 2021, we recreated those initial datasets with an eye for public use. Rather than using Excel and R, during this round we did nearly every element of work in Stata, with the exception of using ArcGIS to map public library building locations to their correct public school district. Using only one software for the full process allows us to share step by step processes and the reasoning of each step (see Methods). By July 2021, a Stata to R commands translation sheet will be shared for all cleaning, manipulation, and analysis conducted in Stata. As ever, if there is an element of this data that you have questions about or a method that requires further explanation, or you see an error, contact us at research @ rurallibraries.org.
