Wiki Version:
Media Psychology Research Materials Repository ==================== This is an open repository for stimuli, instruments, scales, inventories (or translations thereof), analysis scripts, and other research materials relevant to media psychologists. Researchers are encouraged to share their materials here, including those created for unpublished studies (e.g. Bachelor and Master theses), to increase reliability and replicability of media psychology. This repository merely curates research materials, and does not review or validate their quality. **Researchers interested in sharing their materials should make sure they hold the relevant rights to do so.** How do I share my research materials? --------------------- To make your materials publicly available in this repository, please follow these simple steps: **1. Create an account on osf.io** It's free. **2. Submit information sheet** Fill in the following information sheet (in English, even if your materials are in a different language) and send it via email to *malte [dot] elson [at] rub [dot] de* > *MATERIAL NAME:* Short and informative name, e.g. Movie Enjoyment Scale > > *CONTRIBUTORS:* Names of people who contributed to the materials. All contributors registered at osf.io will be given editing rights for this material > > *TYPE:* e.g. Stimulus Material, Survey Instrument, Analysis Script > > *SHORT DESCRIPTION:* Provide a brief, informative description of what you are sharing. > > *KEYWORDS/TAGS:* A list of meaningful keywords/tags (as many as you like). > > *LANGUAGE:* Language the shared materials are in (or N/A) > > *REFERENCE:* Specify how you want others to cite your materials (e.g. a journal publication this material was used in). If not specified, the reference generated by osf.io will be used by default (for which you can create a DOI). > > *LICENSE:* Familiarize yourself with different types of sharing licenses, for example on [https://creativecommons.org/][1], to pick the one that's right for your materials. Unless otherwise specified, all materials in this repository are shared under a [CC-BY 4.0][2] license by default.. **3. Upload your files** A folder for your materials will be created, to which you can upload your materials. Please note that osf.io is a free service to host and share research materials that we greatly appreciate. Make sure that you do not overburden their generosity. As a rule of thumb, we suggest that you do not upload any file to osf.io's servers that you would not send someone via email. Uploading simple document files should be no problem; for larger files, osf.io allows direct linking to Dropbox (and other services). Please make use of these functions where appropriate. **4. Be showered with gratitude by the media psych community** You're done. Could you show me an example? --------------------- Sure. To illustrate the above, I have uploaded stimulus materials from a research project here: [https://osf.io/u8265/][3] The corresponding information sheet looks like this: > *MATERIAL NAME:* Nonviolent first-person shooter > > *CONTRIBUTORS:* Malte Elson > > *TYPE:* Stimulus Material > > *SHORT DESCRIPTION:* A set of mods to make Unreal Tournament 3 nonviolent > > *KEYWORDS/TAGS:* video games, first-person shooter, violence, aggression, unreal tournament 3, mod > > *LANGUAGE:* German > > *REFERENCE:* Elson, M., Breuer, J., Van Looy, J., Kneer, J., & Quandt, T. (2015). Comparing apples and oranges? Evidence for pace of action as a confound in research on violence in digital games. Psychology of Popular Media Culture, 4(2), 112-125. doi: 10.1037/ppm0000010 > > *LICENSE:* CC-BY 4.0 Are there other repositories I could use for this purpose? --------------------- There are, and I'm happy to link to them here (let me know if you would like to add any to this list): - GESIS ZIS: [http://www.gesis.org/unser-angebot/studien-planen/zis/][4] - ZPID Testarchiv: [https://www.zpid.de/index.php?wahl=products&uwahl=frei&uuwahl=testarchiveintro-klassifikatoren][5] Who maintains this repository? --------------------- Currently, this repository is maintained by Malte Elson (Ruhr University Bochum).
