Description: Advocating for the care of new and emerging forms of digital art requires understanding its preservation and access risks. Speaking directly with artists is key and it’s not often an organization has a captive audience of artists available to provide information on the risks facing their work. Sundance Institute has found that its festival and lab are valuable platforms for collecting this information. The poster will illustrate our discovery process and provide insight to what a variety of new and established artists are saying about the risks facing their work. Using the aggregate data, we will explore how to better support artists and resource needs. By sharing our experience, we want to create a dialogue around collaborative data collection, sharing, and standardization to expand and diversify the work documented through an alliance of organizations.
