Wiki Version:
A professional development symposium at [AMCIS 2013][1]. [**Agenda**][2] **Abstract:** Underlying the growing use of emerging technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Visitation (DV), is a concern to ensure that human rights are protected. In this meeting we will explore the current state of data tools, guidelines, and proposals for policies and regulations promoting trust in AI and federated systems which will ultimately advance Open Science (RDA AI-DV, 2023) and fundamental human rights. The implementation of advanced technologies and big data initiatives in healthcare, commerce, advertising, and lived environments like smart cities urges attention be paid to AI ethics and data governance, in addition to cybersecurity, confidentiality, and issues of privacy and surveillance. Use of deep fakes in propaganda, as well as trust in government and responsibility vs. social polarization are issues to be discussed. Geopolitics also plays a role. We’ll discuss examples from Israel’s recent political climax regarding democracy, and the COVID-19 pandemic situation, focusing on how citizens encounter the fragility of shared systems in extreme events. The closing discussion of this session will focus on the impetus to collaborate during extreme events and how crisis can open new innovation opportunities. We’ll discuss insights and what we can learn from successful cases. [1]: https://amcis2023.aisconferences.org/ [2]: https://hackmd.io/@AiDem/B1GS38Nt3
