Wiki Version:
Notes on Materials: **Most results reported in our manuscript are based on bootstrap tests of significance. Bootstrap tests involve randomization, so results will not be identical across runs of the procedure. The "set.seed()" command can be used in R to ensure randomization is identical, but it was not used consistently in computing results. The results uploaded here are from an entirely new run of the code, and so numerical estimates might differ slightly from those reported in the manuscript.** Full results of bootstrapped Spearman correlations are included in the file "ear_spearman_boot.csv" in the folder "Output of R Code." This presents all of the correlations, 95% CI, and significance of these correlations for (i) the full sample, (ii) male participants, and (iii) female participants. The file "ear_mf_diff_boot.csv" contains bootstrapped differences between the correlations between male and female participants. The file "ear_facet_compare_boot.csv" contains bootstrapped differences between the correlations between facets of each personality trait. In the R code folder, four different R files are included. These are labeled with "step1" to "step4" to indicate the order in which they should be run. Please note that the file that calculates the bootstrapped confidence intervals will take a considerable amount of time to run (> 1 hour).
