Description: The graphics is a redrawing of the old Figure A-1 in the OAIS Reference Model. This drawing has a history of being in a colored form in the CCSDS 650.0-B-1 BLUE BOOK January 2002 version https://public.ccsds.org/Pubs/650x0b1s.pdf (Annex F), but always in black and white in the official version. The 2002 presents itself much nicer than the one in the current version in https://public.ccsds.org/Pubs/650x0m2.pdf (Annex A). The reason is that the 2002 was created on a Macintosh and became unavailable, - therefore the drawing had to be redrawn in order to be included again. The version presented here is improved in several ways: • It re-introduces colors • It presents different graphics for Functions, Functional Entities and Roles • It is consistent with the rest of the figures of OAIS • Placement of Functional Entities as in the well-known Figure 4-1: OAIS Functional Entities • Arrows are highlighted, if they represents arrows from Figure 4-1: OAIS Functional Entities These changes are according to suggestions to the next revision of the OAIS Reference model collected on the OAIS Community Wiki http://wiki.dpconline.org/index.php?title=OAIS_Community. This illustration is produced – not only by hard work – but with artistic brush to make it comprehensible in spite of the many arrows that does not match having the Preservation Planning on top and Administration in the button. This is the current draft of the drawing. It should not be used as a final OAIS drawing, since there are still untreated suggested changes that may influence the final look. The final drawing will be published with the new revision of the OAIS reference model that is currently being prepare. The CCSDS-DAI working group in charge of coordinating the Five Year Review of OAIS (http://review.oais.info/) has on a meeting of the 10th of July 2018 expressed that they have no objections to this submission, as long as it is stressed that it is not the final version and it is not an implementation model.
