# README This repository provides the data and analysis code from Quirk, C., Adam, K., & Vogel, E. K. (2020). For questions about the materials here, email cquirk@uchicago.edu or dm on twitter @ColinTQuirk. ## Overview The `cleaning` folder contains the R code needed to covert the raw data into summarized data. The `experiments` folder contains both the experiment code and data for each of the experiments. The `figures` folder contains the R scripts needed to reproduce plots (excluding minor illustrator adjustments) and the plots themselves. The `misc` folder contains the images used as stimuli (taken from [bradylab.ucsd.edu](https://bradylab.ucsd.edu/) and renamed). Finally, the `models` code contains Rmd files that run the models used in analysis and prints the appropriate output. For convenience, the html files including output are also included so that values can be confirmed without needing to rerun the models. ## Experiment Code The experiment code is written in MATLAB and requires psychtoolbox. Unless you are attempting to exactly reproduce our experiment, I recommend instead using psychopy (you may be interested in my [psychopy change detection code](https://github.com/colinquirk/PsychopyChangeDetection)). ## Data Each experiment has a data directory. For the behavioral experiments, there is a `mat` folder with the raw data, a `csv` folder which contains the raw data in csv form, and a `dfs` data which contains combined and summarized data. If you are interested in using the data, rather than replicating the analyses, you should probably start with the data in the dfs folder. Experiment 1b also has a `recordings` folder, which can be used to confirm participants engaged in the verbal load condition. Recordings are split by subject and block. Experiment 2 contains all of these same folders within the `behavioral` folder. Additionally there is an `eeg` folder which contains both the raw eeg and eye tracking data files (including before and after artifact rejection) and a `dfs` folder which contain the CDA data in csv form. Raw eeg data is in eeglab format. Models are fit using the brms R package, which uses the stan package on the backend.
