Description: Studies on the use of protection facemasks by children to prevent transmissible diseases are scarce and present a low level of evidence, which has hindered scientific syntheses with a high level of evidence and does not favor the proposal of protocols or guidelines for health professionals or the population. In this sense, the World Health Organization has encouraged studies on this topic. Furthermore, we recognize that, in the face of a new situation such as the current pandemic, generating evidence that can support further studies and synthesize information on the use of masks by children is relevant. Considering the above, the objective of this scope review is to identify and summarize scientific evidence on the use of protections facemasks by children to prevent transmissible diseases in the community and at home.
