**The UK Network of Open Research Working Groups** ------------------------------ Open Research Working Groups (ORWGs) are action-oriented teams within higher education that are seeking to reform science to make the processes and products of research as transparent, accessible and reproducible as possible. You can read more about ORWGs in our [primer][1], prepared for the **[UK Reproducibility Network][2],** or hear about the UK-ORWG in [this podcast][3]. The **UK Network of ORWGs** brings these groups together under one umbrella to focus and amplify our shared mission. We are working to develop policy initiatives, host events and conferences, produce educational materials and workshops, conduct collaborative research projects centered on open science, and assess community needs to bring more researchers toward open practices. Membership is open to any ORWG located within the UK higher education sector, and we also welcome international affiliates. Key individuals may also be invited to join. If you would like to join the group as contributor, please contact [Chris Chambers][4] or [request access through the OSF][6]. The UK-ORWG has five broad objectives. Objective 1: Build a community ------------------------------ To share within the network our experiences and perspectives about open science, including potential opportunities, challenges, and practical tools. Objective 2: Raise Awareness ------------------------------ To raise awareness outside the network about the benefits of open science practices for research and researchers. Objective 3: Education ------------------------------ To generate practical tools for helping researchers adopt open practices, including training and guidance in relevant aspects of law, ethics, policies and procedures. Objective 4: Internal Promotion ------------------------------ To lobby for open research policy reforms within our departments, colleges and universities. Objective 5: External Promotion ------------------------------ To drive forward open science policies and practices within journals, funders, public bodies (e.g. Research England for the REF) and learned societies, engaging with journalists, parliamentarians, and the public about the economic and social benefits of open science. ---------- **Resources** Please see the [public space wiki][7] for tools, presentations, ongoing meta-science work, working papers, and similar resources.
