Hypotheses/Expectations
Although Schooler and colleagues have indicated that the verbal overshadowing effect is “more temperamental” than previously thought, the effect has been replicated. Therefore, I expect that indeed the accuracy of identification of the robber’s face from the video will be lower in the Experimental condition than in the Control condition. I honestly do not have an expectation regarding confidence ratings for the two conditions, nor can I predict whether the effect size will be similar to that observed in the original study.
