Goals - Correlation with Multidimensional Fundamentalism Inventory (MF; Liht et al. 2011) and its three subscales: External Authority (MFEA), Fixed religion (MFF), and Worldly Rejection (MFWR) - Correlations with Intratextual Fundamentalism (ITF; see Williamson et al. 2010; revised “Sacred Books” to “Bible”) - Moral Founded on Divine Authority Scale (MFDA; Simpson et al. 2016) - Correlation with Christian Orthodoxy Scale (COS; Hunsberger 1989) Initial Sample: 200 US MTurk Workers, paid 1.70 (340 + 136 total cost) Inclusionary Criteria: (estimated n = 175, with 68 self-identiying as Christian) - Answers Question A_5 with response “eggs” - Answers Question Z_1 with Option 1 (Keep) Data Management: - Missing Values - MFEA_1 to MFDA_5: Missing Values = “3” - ITF_1 to COS_6: Missing values = “3.5” - Create 10 new variables: BVST_01 to BVST_10. Initially code all as 0. - Give respondent 1 point for each of the following: - For BVST_01, 1 point if B_01 = 1 - For BVST_03, 1 point if B_03 = 1 - For BVST_04, 1 point if B_04 = 2 - For BVST_06, 1 point if B_06 = 1 - For BVST_07, 1 point if B_07 = 2 - For BVST_08, 1 point if B_08 = 1 - For BVST_10, 1 point if B_10 = 1 - Give respondent 1 point for each of the following: - For BVST_02, -1 point if B_02 = 2 - For BVST_05, -1 point if B_05 = 1 - For BVST_09, -1 point if B_09 = 2 - Reverse scoring - MFEA_1, MFEA_2, MFEA_3, MFF_1, MFF_2, MFF_3, MFF_5, MFDA_5 (1=5, 2=4, 4=2, 5=1) - ITF_3, COS_2, COS_3, COS_5 (1 = 6, 2 = 5, 3 = 4, 4 = 3, 5 = 2, 6 = 1) - Score scales - BVST = BVST_01 to BVST_10 - MFEA = MFEA_1 to MFEA_5 - MFF = MFF_1 to MFF_5 - MFWR = MFWR_1 to MFWR_5 - MF = MFEA + MFF + MFWR - MFDA = MFDA_1 to MFDA_5 - ITF = ITF_1 to ITF_5 - COS = COS_1 to COS_6 Hypotheses: - BVST will be positively correlated with MFEA, MFF, MFWR, MF, MFDA, ITF and COS Planned Analyses: - Descriptive statistics for A_1 to A_4, BVST, MFEA, MFF, MFWR, MF, MFDA, ITF, and COS - Correlations between BVST, MFEA, MFF, MFWR, MF, MFDA, ITF, and COS, both for entire sample and for subset self-identifying as Christian.
