Description: Understanding alcohol’s effects on social behavior and communication patterns can help provide insight into factors reinforcing heavy drinking and the development of Alcohol Use Disorder. This study indicates that alcohol enhances individuals’ ability to utilize linguistic common ground, contributing to alcohol’s social lubricating effects and thus potentially our understanding of context-based vulnerability for heavy drinking.
