Wiki Version:
Supplementary Analyses 10.28.2020 To investigate the reason why there is a nonlinear change in susceptibility to Verbal Overshadowing around the 10-minute mark, we will test whether memories for the actor become more 'gist'-like over delays. The full test of this will involve mapping the degree ot which memories ofr the actor rely on gist memories over the full 5-20 minute delay (5, 10, 11, 12.5, 14, 15, 20). To first test whether there is *any* change, we will test a random sample of 25 descriptions at 5 minutes and again at 20 minutes (with the 1-minute writing task). The random sample will be taken by selecting 25 descriptions randomly using random.org. Then, the descriptions will be fed into coh-metrix, and a Gist Information Score derived from the text (Wolfe et al., 2018). If there are indeed changes between 5 minutes and 20-minutes, we will explore the full range of data.
