Wiki Version:
The paper "Memory transmission in small groups and large networks: an empirical study" (https://link.springer.com/article/10.3758/s13423-021-02021-9) contains two experiments. **EXPERIMENT 1:** Preliminary results from Experiment 1 were presented at the Annual Conference of the Cognitive Science Society and appear in the Proceedings of that conference (Gates, Suchow, & Griffiths, 2017).* *Gates, M. A., Suchow, J. W., & Griffiths, T. L. (2017). Empirical tests of large-scale collaborative recall. Proceedings of the 39th Annual Conference of the Cognitive Science Society. On OSF, materials from this study are included in the folder "Experiment 1 (from Gates, Suchow, Griffiths, 2017)". This paper is included in the folder "Gates at al. (2017)". Additionally, all of the data are included in "expt 1 data". The folder names within this "data.zip" file refer to the individual launches of the experiment-- data from each of these launches were incorporated into the collaborative, nominal, and network experiments. Within each launch folder, "/data/info.csv" contains participant responses (column name "contents"), where each participant is designed by a "node id" / "origin id" (An origin id of 1 indicates "Source", or the computer system rather than a participant). "data/node.csv" contains the mapping between "node id" and "participant id", where only participants who had a "node id" were included in the experiment ("data/participant.csv" contains participant ids). "data/question.csv" contains participants' responses to the post-experiment questionnaire, using "participant id". Some of the analysis scripts used in this study are included in "expt 1 main analysis scripts". "analysisscript.m" was used to process the collaborative and nominal experiments, and "network_MASTER.m" and "Figure-Generation.py" (originally a .ipynb file, downloaded as a Python file; the other files are Matlab files) were used to process the network experiments described in Gates, Suchow and Griffiths (not included in the eventual journal publication). This is the not the complete set of analysis scripts used in this study. **EXPERIMENT 2:** Experiment 2 was a preregistered experiment; its data are located within the linked OSF project "Empirical tests of large-scale collaborative recall". Note that the analysis scripts contained in that linked OSF project mainly analyze the results from that study, but also incorporate the results from Gates, Suchow, and Griffiths (2017) ("Experiment 1") to generate figures and results for the final combined paper. There are also additional data and analyses contained in the linked OSF project that are not included in the final combined paper.
