Wiki Version:
In this project, we will replicate the first experiment of the study conducted by Zarkadi & Schnall (2012) for the second time. You will find in this page the raw data, the syntax and the materials we used. Please see under the registration tab to see the preregistration. We recruited participants from March 6th to March 10th using a website interest in psychology and personality (https://www.fichedepersonnalite.com/) who displayed our manipulation task. An *a priori* calculation first defined that we would need data from 282 participants to achieve a power of .90*. As we want to have participant in the same condition as in the original study, we will only analyze data from participants who did the task using a computer. *please note that due to an oversight in the a priori power calculation (making an error in the numerator) we overshooted the sample size we needed. If one were to conduct an a priori power analysis based on the authors’ effect size using G-Power (Faul, Erdfelder, Buchner, & Lang, 2009) with an alpha level = .05, power = 0.9, based on ZS1’s effect size of ηp2 = .07 (Cohen’s d = .55) one would only need 142 participants.
