Wiki Version:
Jainta et al. (2014; 2017) have found that word frequency effects are eliminated in fixation times when subjects are asked to read sentences with only one eye. Their account of why this would be the case predicts that the same pattern should be observed in reaction times during single word reading. If they are correct, this will pose a significant challenge to current thinking around how word frequency operates in models of visual word recognition. If, on the other hand, word frequency effects persist, this will undermine their account. This project is the first attempt at pitting those theories against each other. **Publications:** Robidoux & Besner (2018).
