Unfortunately, measurement courses often rely on methods that are no longer recommended by measurement experts because they are outdated or methodologically problematic. If students are expected to become proficient psychological scientists, then the education of psychological measurement needs a complete overhaul. The aim of this 3-hour hackathon is to develop a freely available syllabus for a state-of-the-art, research-informed graduate course in psychological measurement. Attendees will identify key topics, determine the optimal teaching sequence of those topics, and compile a list of accessible high-quality readings. If time permits, attendees will also generate ideas for relevant classroom activities and/or assignments. Although this session will be led by researchers with psychometrics expertise, we value the perspective of novices and strongly encourage their attendance, participation, and contribution.
