# **Resource Development for Interdisciplinary Studies of Scientific Practices Project** ### Description: A set of resources for scientists interested in engaging with contemporary philosophical studies of their investigative practices. ### Context: When scientists re-examine the foundations of their practices they sometimes look to philosophy of science for insights. Given the difficulties of finding contemporary introductions to philosophical studies of scientific practices, it can be tempting to accept influential yet out-dated philosophical positions (such as those attributed to Karl Popper or Thomas Kuhn). Recognising these difficulties, this project aims to develop a set of resources introducing contemporary philosophical studies of scientific practices in ways that are relevant to practicing scientists An ongoing project, these resources are being developed by philosophers and historians of scientific practices in collaboration with practicing scientists. ### Public Content: #### [Examples of Collaborations between Scientists and Philosophers of Scientific Practices](https://osf.io/wbu6c/) #### [Reading Sets for Small Group Discussion](https://osf.io/n5ksx/) * [Contemporary philosophy of scientific practices - an introductory reading set](https://osf.io/jcpb9/) * [The Contingencies of Objective Scientific Knowledge - an Introductory Reading Set](https://osf.io/4wyf5/) * [Classification Practices in the Sciences- a Comparative Reading Set](https://osf.io/mw9c5/) * [Resources for Discussing Racism within the Sciences](https://osf.io/3cyjr/) * [Modelling as an Epistemic Activity in Ecology](https://osf.io/4qvjr/) #### [Materials shared at Workshops, Conferences, and Unconferences](https://osf.io/wq5ca/) ### Version notes: This resource set builds on earlier versions that were presented for feedback at workshops, including those held at the Society for the Improvement of Psychological Sciences (SIPS) conference in [2019](https://osf.io/tu9hb/) and at the Association for Interdisciplinary, Metaresearch, and Open Science (AIMOS) conferences in [2019](https://osf.io/whkvj/) and [2020](https://osf.io/rc4m9/). This newest iteration is in progress and, when ready, will be shared at similar workshops for further feedback. In the meantime, we are working on individual resource components, continuing to invite feedback (for example see our session at [AIMOS2021](https://osf.io/4qvjr/)). Note that each resource set draws on on different combinations of collaborators, so please see authorship details on each component. ****
