The Mechanisms of Alertness and Spatial Attention programme involves several branches of ongoing research. The programme uses the transition between conciousness states, from wakefulness to early sleep (drowsiness), as an experimental framework for investigating the neural and behavioural responses at the intersection of wakefulness and awareness. The programme has a particular focus to investigate the neural mechanisms of the relationship between alertness and spatial attention.
