Wiki Version:
This repository contains data and analysis files for the manuscript "Facing the pandemic with trust in science" (https://psyarxiv.com/edw47/). # Data The data here include only of those variables needed for this specific manuscript. **The full dataset will be posted to the parent repository on publication of all pre-registered aims.** `data_trust_in_science.csv` is the data for the main study reported here. `data_followup.csv` is data gathered for the follow-up validation study (described in `supplemental analyses/trustInScience_trustMeasure.Rmd`). `data_denial.csv` is data from an unrelated project on science denial which includes variables relevant to the follow-up validation study (also described in `supplemental analyses/trustInScience_trustMeasure.Rmd`). `data_stringency.csv` has data for the stringency of government responses to COVID, from Hale, T., Webster, S., Petherick, A., Phillips, T., & Kira, B. (2020). Oxford COVID-19 government response tracker (OxCGRT), retrieved from [https://github.com/OxCGRT/covid-policy-tracker](https://github.com/OxCGRT/covid-policy-tracker). These stringency measures have been matched to each participant according to the date they took our survey and their reported country of residence at that time. # Analyses The "main analysis" folder contains the R script necessary to reproduce the reported analyses. Additionally, the "supplemental analyses" folder contains additional analysis scripts that check that our conclusions do not depend on the specific assumptions of the models in the main analysis (as well as a supplemental data file that we extracted from Table S1 in Borgonovi & Pokropek, 2020, [https://psyarxiv.com/yq287/](https://psyarxiv.com/yq287/)). These various analyses are summarised in the file `alternative_analyses_summary.pdf`. Both analyses folders contain subfolders beginning "bayesmods" which contain the Bayesian models output by the `brm` function in R, and which can be reloaded for inspection.
