### Where is paddy rice currently located in Africa? * This project maps current (2017-2018) "paddy rice" spatial distribution predictions for Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria and Ethiopia using machine learning. * It is also an experiment / case study, which poses how individuals and institutions can collaborate to answer this seemingly simple question. ### Our intent is to provide: * near-real-time information about the spatial distribution of croplands and specifically "paddy rice" in Africa, and * to provide the evidence to monitor changes in "paddy rice" distributions over time. ### Work in progress! Note that the Wikis, GeoSurvey, remote sensing data, and associated R workflows will be updated as we get new data in place. However we now seem to have sufficient data in place to get a baseline proccess and approach started.
