Description: In this project we will replicate the study below: Hare, T.A., Camerer, C.F., Rangel, A. (2009) Self-control in decision-making involves modulation of the vmPFC valuation system. Science 324(5927):646-8. doi: 10.1126/science.1168450. The aim of this project is threefold. First, we will directly replicate the above study by employing similar methods and preprocessing and analysis pipelines identical to the original study. Second, we will assess the robustness of the results by submitting the data to different preprocessing and analysis pipelines. Third, we will collect follow up measures of state self-control and self-regulatory outcomes in daily life to assess how the neural correlates of self-control relate to these measures more proximate to real life behavior. The project is funded by the Dutch Science Foundation: NWO within the funding round Replication studies (grant no. 401.16.023). Granted to main applicant: L.N. van der Laan. Co-applicants: A. Smidts, D.T.D. de Ridder and External advisor: R.A. Poldrack.
