We are currently preparing a large-scale cross-cultural research project on the interpersonal effects of emotional tears and reaching out to interested international collaborators.
Detailed information about the project can be found on our project page: https://osf.io/fj9bd/. In general, we are interested in examining a possible universal attachment function of emotional tears. In order to provide a systematic estimate of this effect, we aim at including a substantial number of countries, cultures, and diverse regions from across the globe.
Participation in the project entails getting IRB approval at your local institution, translating the materials (if another language than English is used), collecting data from n >= 80 participants (normal adults >= 18 years of age) using an online survey that lasts about 10 minutes, and reviewing the final manuscript.
We are employing a registered report format (https://cos.io/rr/) and aim at publishing the final report in a high impact journal.

After signing up, you will receive an email after some days with further instructions.
Note that each lab might sign up with more than one researcher if you have other colleagues at your institution interested in such a project.
At the moment we are planning to start data collection in Autumn 2019/Spring 2020, which might also depend on the overall turnaround rate of our Stage I submission.
