Wiki Version:
Publication bias, the failure to publish null or contradictory results, remains an enduring problem within psychological science. In this workshop, we will first discuss how meta-analysis can be used to reduce publication bias at the individual publication level, and then we will explain how to address publication bias at the broader research synthesizing level. The first part of the workshop will provide a step-by-step guide on how to conduct an internal meta-analysis within one’s manuscript. In the second part of the workshop, we will explain the strengths and weaknesses of various techniques that have been developed to address publication bias in meta-analysis, compare their performance, and provide advice on what they can and cannot do.
