This is an assembly guide for a syringe pump, designed to run off a Ramps Board (or similar).
This implies that it is driven by a stepper motor, giving full motion control. The pump is designed for adjustability in regards to syringe sizes (0.5-60 ml has been tested). The last design role applied is that all components shall be in 3 mm stainless steel (at least ASTM 304 quality), and laser cut for minimum handling.
Estimated first time assembling: 1-2 hours
The assembly goes by several steps which are detailed below.
1) Prepping the parts after laser cutting (removing start/stop flashes and treading)
2) Mounting bearings
3) Assembling the frame
4) Adding smooth rods and linear bearings
5) Adding treaded rod
6) Assembling the carriage
7) Assembling the treaded gear mechanism
8) Mounting the motor (including the motor gear)
9) Mounting the second motor plate
10) Mounting the flange holder
11) Mounting the piston holder
12) Power up and calibration
In the following the individual steps are demonstrated followed by a bill of materials (BoM) and a list of useful tools. There is also a *.PDF version [in the file archive][1] together with all the technical drawings.
When done the final assembly should look like this.
