How often have you heard one PI asking another PI "Is it worth it using this core?" How often have you asked the same question? This talk will introduce a framework that I use to answer this question with clients ranging from the NCI and NICHD to major pharmaceutical firms and internal manufacturing organizations. We will talk about the five components of the answer: (1) why do people use your core (mission & strategies); (2) How can you be more efficient in doing what you do; (3) what is the impact of your core on the work; (4) are you using your resources correctly and (5) how do you synchronize all these together to answer the primary question of value and worth.
