**Component 3 (ES Assessment...)** acts as a tool for you to match your level of library resources/time/expertise to the level of community interest in ES projects. You will need to have gathered data as laid out in Component 1 and understand the various support levels in Component 2 to utilize this worksheet. First, assess the level of interest of your community. ------------------------------------------------------ *Check if YES. Note: See component 1 for evidence/data gathering tips.* - More than 3% of librarian consultation statistics are about ES projects, support, or methodologies over the last two years. - Some ES-related reference questions over the last two years. - There have been inquiries from faculty or students about advanced searching or ES support/collaboration. - There are ES options for thesis/dissertations on campus. - There has been an increase in the number of ES-related publications at your institution. - A survey of your faculty, staff, and students has demonstrated a trend in their interest in ES support/projects. Total boxes checked for community interest: ____ Second, assess library expertise, interest, and time. ----------------------------------------------------- *Check if YES. Note: See component 2 for reference.* - There will NOT be significant hours (5+) in ES methodology/protocol training/reading to be done. - 1-2 librarians are well-versed in at least one citation manager tool. - 1-2 librarians have used an abstract tracking software/platform. - An ES-related LibGuide or other point-of-need materials already exist. - A librarian is able to dedicate at least 5% of their workload on ES-related support/services. - 2+ librarians would be considered master, advanced searchers in several databases. - The librarian(s) interested in ES support are comfortable collaborating or even leading an ES research team. - Librarian(s) are comfortable co-authoring ES manuscripts for publication. - There is room in the library budget to increase database and ES resources subscriptions/memberships. Total boxes checked for library interest/resources: ____ Third, compare your Library Interest & Resources to the Community Interest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ By tallying the total number of boxes from the above sections, use the matrix below to define your level of support. The more the boxes checked/tallied, the higher the level of support possible.
