Data sharing is here to stay! As we move into the world of sharing and using each others' data (and especially, collaborating together on large data collection efforts), it quickly becomes clear that there are a tremendous number of choices to be made about how we let people know what a dataset is, what variables were present, what they mean, what they are called, and so on. Many exciting possibilities for how we can use our shared data depend on that data being in a very standard format that can be both discovered and 'understood' by computer scripts.
The best way to catch up with what's going on in this project is to start at the top of the 'Hack Document' in google storage.
