Wiki Version:
Abstract Many Big-Team and Open Science networks still struggle to recruit samples and researcher leadership from the Global South. This has prompted the creation of initiatives within existing Big-Team Science networks and new consortiums, such as the Psychological Science Accelerator (PSA) Regional Hubs and Advancing Big-team Reproducible science through Increased Representation (ABRIR). In 2023, we started the Latin America PSA Hub. We hosted webinars about behavioral open science practices (e.g. use of OSF) in Spanish, specifically aimed at local scientists, with a perspective of the barriers faced in Latin America, such as language, lack of educational resources, cultural representation and sensitivity. This talk will highlight successes, challenges, and future directions in our initiative. Spanish is the world's second-most spoken native language, with the majority of speakers in Latin America. Our work seeks to not only improve access but to also take into consideration cultural and contextual issues, with talks, seminars, and activities led by Latin America Spanish speaking hosts, representing a wide regional grammatical, lexical, and pragmatic diversity.
