Wiki Version:
The Perception of Emotion in Everyday Relationships (PEER) Study is large scale data collection effort within the Affective Science and Culture Lab at Yale University. The study contains several distinct research aims, which will be separately pre-registered and linked here. Overall, the study is designed to examine how individuals perceive emotion, both in general and in the context of their close relationships. Participants in the study complete a dyadic EMA paradigm focused on emotion perceptions throughout the day across a 9-day period. Participants also complete a set of pre and post measures assessing emotion knowledge, emotion perception, social and relationship perceptions and behaviors and mental health symptoms. Together, the aspects of this project will allow us to 1) bridge emotion perception research between the lab and everyday life; 2) examine emotion perception as a contextually and relationally dynamic phenomenon; 3) unpack individual differences in emotion perception skill.
