## Study Description ##
The Child Personality and Behavioral Outcomes Study in Houston, TX (CPBS-H) is a longitudinal study started and maintained by Dr. Jennifer Tackett. The primary aims of this study are to identify and measure personality characteristics between middle childhood and adolescence, and to examine genetic and hormonal influences on personality, psychopathology, and other aspects of behavior.
At the first wave of data collection starting in July 2012, 350 children and their primary female caregivers were recruited from the Houston area using directory information from local school districts and flyers advertising the study in the community. Recruitment was conducted on a rolling basis until the target sample of 350 was reached. Inclusion criteria for this study included child fluency in English and caregiver fluency in English or Spanish. Exclusion criteria for the child included a lifetime history of psychotic disorders, mental retardation, or neurodevelopmental disorders.
Recruitment for a first follow-up with the families is ongoing as of 2018.
