Wiki Version:
The goal of the present project is to determine whether neurons in the CNS are sensitives to light. This project starts from the serendipity observation that the firing activity of Mitral Cells recorded on slices from olfactory bulb is reduced by yellow/green light stimulus. [See pilot experiments][1]. Starting from these results we set up an [ experimental plan ][2] aimed to determine: a) the cellular mechanisms of light action on MC; b) whether and how light stimulation affect the firing activity of other neuronal types in different brain structures.
