**THE GHENT PSYCHOTHERAPY STUDY (GPS)** **Scientific Title** Differential Efficacy of Supportive-Expressive and Cognitive-Behavioral Interventions in Dependent and Self-critical Depressive Patients: A Randomized Trial. **Abstract** Efficacy research shows substantial between-subject variability in the efficacy of different types of behavioral and psychotherapeutic interventions for depression. Post-hoc analyses of naturalistic data suggest that pre-structured interventions are more effective for dependent depressive patients while explorative interventions are more effective for self-critical patients. This project proposes a randomized controlled trial in which these findings are tested in a mixed method experimental set-up. **Keywords** Differential Efficacy, psychodynamic interventions, cognitive behavioral interventions, dependency, self-criticism, randomized controlled trial, depression **Ghent University, Belgium** *Department of Psychoanalysis and Clinical Consulting* **Research team** Prof. Dr. Mattias Desmet, Prof. Dr. Reitske Meganck, Prof. Dr. Stijn Vanheule, Dr. Ruth Inslegers, Msc.
