Category: Project

Description: This project aims to; (1) establish the current state of the art in the UK for nurse retention and transition from student to registered nurse and (2) provide UK healthcare organisations, HEI’s and individual nurses with an evidence-based approach to plan for successful transition. The related objectives are to; (1) undertake an evidence review of approaches used nationally and internationally to enhance nurse transition and retention for newly registered nurses, (2) identify the views of healthcare employers, final year nursing students and newly qualified nurses on key success factors for transition, and (3) develop an evidence-based toolkit that enables newly registered nurses and their employers to identify, implement and evaluate a co-produced individualised approach to transition and retention.
