Wiki Version:
Demonstration of the **four study sequences in Experiment 1 depicted in Figure 2** of the manuscript. The *categories* of the **targeted** dimension are interleaved in the *interleaved sequences* (experimental conditions) and spaced in the *spaced sequences* (control conditions). The *categories* of the **non-targeted** dimension are (continuously) blocked in all four sequences; that is, the non-targeted categories ware alsways blocked in *both* the experimental and control conditions. Experiment 1 employed a mixed design: study sequences (interleaved vs. spaced study sequences) as between-subjects factor and category sequences (interleaved or spaced vs. blocked categories ) as within-subject factor. The videos contain a short version of each of the 4 study sequence in Experiment 1. Each video displays a 2,5 min demonstration of each sequence. Per video, the first row of each sequence is shown (each row consisting of 4 cells, totaling 4 cells, as shown in Figure 2). Note, *not* shown at the end of each video is a short break. This short break was a slide with two filler items as distraction from the REI Rational-Experimental Inventory (Epstein, Pacini, Denes-Ray, & Heier, 1996; adapted for German by Keller, Bohner, & Erb, 2000). Distraction slide breaks occured after 4 cells (that is to separate cells 4 and 5; 8 and 9; and so on).
