Academic libraries are increasingly offering data-related services and resources that engage with student and faculty work. Many library initiatives emphasize getting grants, supporting STEM fields, or sometimes Digital Humanities, yet they often neglect to teach or use data as a tool for advocacy, civic engagement, and social justice. This talk will give an overview of an example for how libraries can partner with faculty and students to work on equity issues such as police brutality and affordable housing using data.
