Wiki Version:
This project will be conducted in two separate studies. Information for each study can be found in this project's components. A brief overview for each study is provided below: **Study 1:** In Study 1, participants will watch a video of the victim's testimony. After participants watch this video, they will be asked to say out loud what they think happened on the night of the alleged rape. Participants' verbal responses to this measure will be recorded. They will also be asked to choose a verdict for the defendant. In this study, participants will be undergraduate students recruited from the University of Queensland. **Study 2:** In Study 2, participants will be recruited from Academic Prolific. They will be asked to listen to a recording of a participant (from Study 1) saying what they think happened during the alleged rape. After they listen to a recording, participants will then be asked to rate the recording on the following dependent measures: guilt likelihood, rape and consensual sex typicality, coherence, and resemblance to a complete story. Participants will then be asked to choose a verdict for the defendant described in the recording. This study will be conducted so that 11 participants will each listen to one recording of a participant from Study 1 to form a "jury" of 12.
