Wiki Version:
Our study tested self-affirmation as a means to reduce social avoidance motives. Participants completed either a self-affirmation writing exercise or a control exercise and reported on their social interactions for one week. We found that self-affirmed participants reacted with less negativity to any negative social interactions that may have occurred.
