# Validation of Measures of Construal Level These validation studies are part of the CLIMR project: https://osf.io/ra3dp/ ## Validation Study 1 This study is designed to assess the validity of three measures of mental abstraction: - Object categorization - Action segmentation - the Behavior Identification Form (BIF) Material related to this study is located in the Validation Study 1 folder. Preregistration documentation, including information about the design and procedures, is included in the Preregistration Documentation folder. The study materials are located in the Study Materials folder and are provided in two forms: a PDF that includes the text of the materials and a .qsf file that can be imported into Qualtrics. The .qsf file contains the survey flow information and JS code necessary to implement the procedures. The data is located in the Data folder. ## Validation Study 2 This study is designed to assess the validity of interval estimation as a measure of mental abstraction. The methods we use here are close to those of Krüger et al. (2014). Details of the validation study are provided in the registration documentation. Material related to this study is located in the Validation Study 2 folder. ## Overview This repository contains the preregistration documentation for the validation studies, the raw data, and a report of the main results. The data provided here have been stripped of extraneous metadata produced by Qualtrics, and Prolific IDs have been removed. No participants' data have been excluded, and no measured variables have been excluded. Demographic information from Prolific has been included. ## Analysis Code Code for analyses is available on GitHub: https://github.com/RabbitSnore/CLIMR The relevant files are - CLIMR_validation_report.Rmd - CLIMR_validation-2_report.Rmd - ./R/validation/CLIMR-validation_data_importation.R - ./R/validation/CLIMR-validation_effect_calculations.R - ./R/validation/CLIMR-validation_data_visualization.R - ./R/validation/CLIMR-validation-2_data_importation.R - ./R/validation/CLIMR-validation-2_effect_calculations.R - ./R/validation/CLIMR-validation-studies_summary.R The most straightforward way to reproduce the analyses is to clone the entire CLIMR repository from GitHub and to knit the `CLIMR_validation_report.Rmd` document and the `CLIMR_validation-2_report.Rmd` document. This will automatically download the data from OSF, install any necessary packages, conduct the analyses, produce the visualizations, and generate a report like the one contained in this OSF project. ## References Krüger, T., Fiedler, K., Koch, A.
