This is the project for Johannes, N., Veling, H., Verwijmeren, T., & Buijzen, M. (in press). Hard to resist? The effect of smartphone visibility and notifications on response inhibition. *Journal of Media Psychology*. The project contains the following folders: - **Preregistration** contains the in-principle-accepted manuscript (up to the method). - **Materials and Experiment** contains the python and inquisit scripts for the task; the protocol is the experimental protocol we used; the video coding file is an overview of how we used videotapes to exclude those participants who touched their phones - **Data** contains all data files. For an explanation of the different files and their variables, see the readme file in the folder. - **Analysis and Results** contains the R script as well as the JASP files for the entire working file as well as for all contrasts.
