Wiki Version:
This dataset provides maximum bloom extent (MBE, in km2) and median bloom occurrence (BO, in %) for 21,878 freshwater lakes worldwide in the entire period (1980s-2010s) and three sub-periods (1980–1990s, 2000s and 2010s), which was generated using Landsat satellite observation between 1982 to 2019. The BO is defined as the ratio between the number of detected algal blooms to the number of valid satellite observations within a period, ranging from 0 to 100. In addition, the lake water area (in km2) with 95% water occurrence in GSWO dataset for 21,878 freshwater lakes were also provided. Note that because minimum thresholds of valid image number in three sub-periods were used to exclude areas with insufficient valid observations from the statistics (details refer to the NG paper), some lakes may have valid MBE and BO in the entire period but have no data in three sub-period. Contents of the table: Column “A-U”, lake information collected from HydroLAKES database. Column “V”, lake water area with 95% water occurrence in GSWO dataset. Column “W-X”, MBE and BO in the entire period. Column “Y-AD”, MBE and BO in three sub-periods. Contact: houxj_92@163.com
