Description: Based on previous research on a psychological stage model describing the process of adopting health apps and questionnaires assessing motivations and barriers to using activity trackers, an online study will be conducted. The study sample will be classified into five stages describing their current activity tracker and health app use. Their motivations and barriers to using activity trackers and health apps will then be assessed and compared between stages. A special focus will be laid on ex-users to generate ideas for promoting long-term use of digital technologies for health promotion.
