Description: This essay is intended to clarify how the different aspects and dimensions, both internal and external, may in the life of a human being influence the organisation of the brain systems at a neurobiological level. The emphasis for the purpose of this essay is made on the development of an evaluative system in the orbito-frontal cortex and its intimate relationship with the limbic system in the process of emotions, both in verbal and non-verbal communication. Before I endeavour to explore the implications of the statement that the development of the brain in early life is experience dependent, I consider it important to introduce you to a series of scientific theories and hypotheses that may support putting into perspective the complexity and different dimensions involved in the scientific approach to this statement.
