Wiki Version:
As of April 2018, when we opened this OSF project, it includes a preprint (paper currently under review) and incomplete supporting materials. The supporting materials are incomplete partly because we have used both Stata and HLM for the data manipulations and analysis. HLM in particular makes a big mess of data and code and output files, not all of which are here. Also, we started this in 2014, and didn't have an open scholarship routine at all back then! Even if this doesn't let you replicate the whole thing, the different parts of the data and code may be useful, and might reveal some of our mistakes. Please feel free to contact us if you have questions or comments. (But we 're not qualified to provide tech support!) **Outline:** *Data folder:* * Raw data from IPUMS.org: "ACS_2011_3yr.dat" Codebook file: Stata code to read in data (includes variable codes) * Stata data file created with "make files from ACS data" ("ACS_2011_3yr_MarriageMarket.dta") *Code for making data files:* * Stata code to create Individual (level-1) and metro area (level-2) data files * HLM code to create HLM analysis files *Analysis code* * Stata code for descriptive table * HLM code for Black and White models (only the final models are here) * Stata code for reading in residual files and making figure illustrating results *HLM model output* * Model output files for each model (these include the equations) * Residual files for each model (with a PDF explaining them).
