Wiki Version:
Promotion and prevention focus have often been operationalized as hopes and duties, respectively. More recently, research has begun to use exploration and self-control. We used LIWC to analyze 1,752 descriptions of hopes, exploration, duties, and self-control. Hopes mentioned achievement and work more than exploration. Self-control mentioned food, exercise, and emotions more than duties. Exploration mentioned positive insight more, and ingestion and power less, than self-control. ****************************** Leigh Ann Vaughn Professor Department of Psychology 1119 Williams Hall Ithaca College Ithaca, NY 14850-7290 (607) 274-7353 http://faculty.ithaca.edu/lvaughn/ She, her ******************************
